Description: Description of Work**As of January 1, 2025, the new salary range will be $48,222.00 – $84,388.00**
**Position will be home-based in the Central region of the state and applicants should reside in Davidson, Davie, Forsyth, Guildford, Randolph, Surry Wilkes or adjacent counties.**The Health Physicist I – Healing Arts Team Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of field inspectors to ensure they met set department work goals. This position manages questions from both internal and external individuals related to radiation machines used to image humans. Is responsible for set number of field inspections each month, monthly team reports and finds efficient resolutions to improve processes. Works closely with the registration department to ensure correct registration of human use devices and ensures the conditions of use are applied as directed by the branch. Is crossed trained to provide support in the absences of the non-healing arts supervisor, and registration supervisor. Assist with the inspection letter processing and task assignments. Coordinates workflow for assigned work and reports to the branch manager by submitting monthly reports. Serves as a member of the State Emergency Response Team as required to maintain Homeland Security. Attends continuing education classes and training to maintain current knowledge of radiologic effects and agency needs. Audits radiological hazards applications for new healing arts devices for unsafe practices, incidents, and unusual request to registered for services and devices and recommend methods for maintaining radiation dose As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).

  • Functional knowledge of radiation testing, detection, survey instrumentation function and operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state regulations and advance technical writing skills.
  • Proven experience in planning and organizing multiple projects with minimum direction.
  • Documented experience establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Bachelor’s degree in nuclear science, physical, or environmental science; health/ medical physics, or radiologic science from an appropriately accredited institution;
