Description: A current vacancy exists for a Computer Science Teacher at East Norriton Middle School within the Norristown Area School District.

• Sign On Bonus (In addition to Salary): $3,000

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Computer Science 7-12 Certification
• Bilingual in Spanish Preferred
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Scratch, Python, or Java
• Strong understanding of computational thinking and its application in education
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for inspiring young learners in the field of computer science
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach computer science concepts and skills to middle school students based on Computer Science Teachers’ Association (CSTA) K-12 standards, including algorithms and programming, computational thinking, data and analysis, and digital literacy.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and educational standards, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Integrate computational thinking across various subjects, demonstrating its relevance and application in real-world scenarios.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Foster students’ curiosity and creativity by providing hands-on experiences with coding, robotics, and other computer science tools.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate computer science principles across the curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary learning and problem-solving skills.
• Provide constructive feedback and support to students, encouraging them to explore and pursue their interests in computer science.
• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in computer science education, participating in professional development opportunities and networking with other educators.
