Description: Job Title: EEO Specialist / EEO Officer / EEO Legal AdvisorPosition Summary:As an EEO Specialist or Legal Advisor, you will be responsible for advising and assisting organizations in ensuring compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, including the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other related regulations. You will also provide legal support to employees and employers, conduct investigations into discrimination complaints, and promote fair workplace practices.Key Responsibilities:Legal Compliance:
- Advise the organization on EEO-related legal requirements and best practices.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EEO regulations.
- Review and update company policies to reflect EEO best practices and legal requirements.
- Draft and review internal policies to prevent discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
Investigation of Complaints:
- Investigate complaints related to discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, ensuring a fair, thorough, and impartial process.
- Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and relevant parties, gathering facts and evidence.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on investigations, including findings and recommendations.
Training and Education:
- Design and deliver training programs for managers, supervisors, and employees on EEO laws, workplace discrimination, harassment, and diversity.
- Educate staff on the company’s EEO policies and how to report potential violations.
Litigation Support and Case Management:
- Assist in defending the organization in EEO-related legal proceedings, including preparing documentation for administrative agencies such as the EEOC.
- Work with external legal counsel on defending against lawsuits related to workplace discrimination or other legal issues.
- Represent the organization in conciliation efforts or settlement discussions related to complaints.
Recordkeeping and Reporting:
- Maintain records of discrimination claims, investigations, resolutions, and other EEO-related documentation.
- Prepare and file EEO reports, including annual EEO-1 filings, and ensure timely submission to regulatory bodies.
- Ensure the company meets all reporting requirements regarding diversity, affirmative action, and EEO compliance.
Policy Development:
- Collaborate with HR departments to create and update affirmative action plans, diversity initiatives, and anti-discrimination policies.
- Provide legal guidance on employment practices, including recruitment, hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions, to avoid EEO violations.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in employment law or human resources, particularly with EEO compliance, workplace discrimination, or related legal matters.
- Familiarity with EEO regulations, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), ADEA (Age Discrimination in Employment Act), and other relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Prior experience conducting investigations into workplace complaints or grievances is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of employment law, EEO regulations, and workplace rights.
- Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
