Burlington School District (BSD) is the largest, most diverse single-town school district in the state of Vermont. In School Year 2022-2023 (SY23), BSD served nearly 3,300 PreK – Grade 12 students across 12 centralized campuses and additional locations for Burlington Technical Center programs. This includes providing support for 465 PreK students through 51 different partner programs in the area. Every learner is challenged, empowered, and engaged.So come work and play with us!Job Description:Extended School Year/Summer: Special EducatorsBurlington School District is seeking Special Educators to provide supports in an inclusive summer school environment for students at risk and with disability. Special Educators will provide services in the classroom, in small groups and individually as assigned.Job Requirements:

  • Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
  • Licensed in Special Education
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in closely working with, providing direction instruction to students with disability
  • Experience in communicating and maintaining positive relationships with parents and guardians of students with intensive needs
  • Ability to commit to work all 5 program weeks, July 1 – August 1 or June 24 – July 26 for Middle School
  • Experience or ability in co-teaching with regular education teachers
  • Ability to train and supervise para-educators
  • Experience in working with ELL students who have language development needs desirable
  • Knowledge of best practices in engaging and motivating students and managing student behaviors.
  • Previous experience in Extended School Year programming is preferred

Dates and Position Hours:In-Service Date: (TBD), 1 dayProgram Dates: June 30-July 31. No July 4th. MONDAY-THURSDAY only. Staff work 8:30-12:30pm. Students attend 9-12pm.
K-5th grade programming will be held at JJ Flynn Elementary School and 6-12th grade programming will be at dt BHS.
