Description: The Childcare Teacher is responsible for helping to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program for young children and communicating with families about their child’s progress.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust have the ability to relate sensitively to children and their familiesMust be able to work cooperatively with families and staffMust complete a health screening which states the applicant is in good health and able to care for childrenMust be agile and energetic enough to perform daily work required for the care of infants, toddlers, and/or childrenMust be able to lift, move, push, pull or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to sit, stand, walk or runMust pass a criminal background record check from the state police prior to employmentMust join an early childhood professional organization within 30 days of employment
Required Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)Two years’ experience working in an early childhood programChild Development Associate (CDA) Credential awarded by the Council for ProfessionalRecognition, or must obtain CDA within 18 months of hire date
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education
