Consider this HR Technician III role with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol!This Human Resources Technician III position executes multiple complex HR processes and coordinates work priorities to ensure effective daily operations of the State Highway Patrol Personnel Unit. Additionally, this position provides technical and administrative supervision for two HR Technician II positions within the Personnel Unit.Job duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and overseeing Personnel Unit initiatives, processes, and operations
  • Consulting with the Budget Section regarding the management of salary reserves to ensure funding is available to hire and promote employees
  • Assisting management with recruitment and selection processes for complex and sensitive job postings
  • Identifying recruitment strategies to attract diverse and talented employees
  • Providing HR training to civilian employees and field operations / sworn members
  • Reviewing and resolving complex salary administration issues and time and leave issues for employees and management
  • Conducting leave audits and equity studies periodically and upon requests
  • Training, mentoring, counseling, and disciplining staff as needed, completing employee work plans and performance reviews
  • Developing and updating organizational charts for the Personnel Unit
  • Demonstrating dedication to customer service through interactions with management, addressing and resolving personnel issues
  • Evaluating situations and interpreting, applying, and communicating a broad range of policies and procedures to make recommendations concerning positions, employees, transactions and problems, and making and defending procedural decisions
  • Expressing oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written form
  • Participating in a variety of special projects which require researching, gathering data, and making recommendations to management
  • Working closely with managers, subject matter experts, and staff to implement new or changing policies, procedures, or guidelines
  • Working independently with minimal instruction while performing work with accuracy and within established deadlines
