Location: Wheaton, Illinois (relocation assistance available upon request)Description:Our firm has an immediate opening for a Franchise Law Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience to join its Franchise Law and Corporate Practice Group. This role is ideal for a motivated attorney looking to develop a career in franchise and corporate law within a sophisticated and collegial legal environment. The position involves strictly transactional and regulatory work, providing legal counsel to both franchisors and franchisees.Responsibilities:Franchise Law Focus: Develop and maintain a practice focused on franchise and corporate law.Client Management: Independently manage a portfolio of existing franchise and business clients.Franchisor Representation:Prepare Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) and manage franchise registrations.Draft Franchise Agreements and related documents.Handle franchise relationship issues, including renewals, transfers, defaults, and terminations.Ensure franchise law compliance, including client counseling, training programs, and responding to government inquiries.Franchisee Representation:Review Franchise Disclosure Documents and Franchise Agreements, counsel clients on terms, and negotiate agreements.Manage franchise renewals and relationship matters with franchisors.Oversee purchases and sales of franchise businesses.Regulatory Compliance: Provide strategic guidance on federal and state franchise regulations, ensuring legal compliance for clients.Transactional Work: Draft and review corporate governance documents, contracts, and business agreements for franchise and corporate clients.Qualifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.Active license to practice law in Illinois and in good standing with the State Bar.Minimum 2 years of experience in transactional business or corporate law; franchise law experience preferred.Strong interest in franchise law, with a willingness to undergo additional training if needed.Strong ability to build client relationships and handle direct client contact with professionalism and confidence.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.Work-life balance with reasonable billable hour requirements.Collegial and progressive firm environment that fosters professional growth.To inquire further, or apply directly, please contact Austin Kiler at or (605)501-4713.
