Job Ttitle: Manager, Government Affairs

Description: Basic Function of the Position: Manager is responsible for strategic oversight of lobbying initiatives related to transportation and privacy. The Manager will also provide support to Government Affairs Vice Presidents on issues affecting the consumer technology industry.Critical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, monitor, and influence federal legislation and regulations impacting the consumer technology industry.
  • Lead federal policy engagement on transportation and privacy.
  • Conduct research and write memoranda, articles, blog posts and position papers on these issues.
  • Work with relevant CTA departments to position the organization as a thought and technical leader on these issues.
  • Identify emerging technology policy issues, and establish CTA as a leading voice in these areas.
  • Prepare statements and testimony for Congressional hearings and comments for regulatory agencies.
  • Lead liaison with the CTA Autonomous Vehicle, Automated Trucking, Electric Vehicle and Privacy working groups as well as relevant industry coalition groups.
  • Represent association at events, including political fundraisers and industry meetings.
  • Maintain professional relationships with relevant Members of Congress and policy staff, and collaborate with CTAPAC to cultivate new tech leaders in Congress.
  • Attend and report on Congressional hearings and other policy briefings.
  • Management and organization of events, including, but not limit to, fundraisers, lobbying days, hill briefings, technology demonstrations and CES.
  • Serve as a public voice for CTA’s policy positions in the press, on panels, and in other speaking engagements.
  • Other duties as required by business needs.

Work Experience:

  • At least 4-6 years’ experience working on federal legislative or regulatory issues and/or technology industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working on or with Capitol Hill
  • Experience with research and writing focused on policy, legislation and regulatory issues

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or related field preferred or commensurate experience

Skills/Capabilities/Technical:

  • Strong knowledge of the political process
  • Must be a strong and compelling writer
  • Strong research and deductive skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills in public speaking, presentations, and written reports
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple issues and tasks, and the ability to work reliably on complex projects with tight deadlines

Additional Information:

  • Must have flexibility to attend industry events in the early morning and evenings.
