If that sounds like a challenge you want to help tackle, we want you to join our team!The OpportunityThis position will advise TC Energy’s U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines business concerning property rights, project development and operational issues, permitting and regulatory compliance. The scope of work encompasses high-stakes, cutting-edge legal issues related to the development of new pipeline infrastructure, as well as the operation of the Company’s existing pipeline systems. The position will report to the Manager of Land and Projects Law in the U.S. Natural Gas Pipelines Law department.What you’ll doAdvise business teams, including senior leaders, concerning complex, technical and sensitive issues related to project development, construction, land and property rights, pipeline safety and other regulatory compliance mattersAdvise business teams, including senior leaders, on matters related to growth projects at all stages of the project life cycle (including preparation and drafting of applications, pleadings, and other related filings, as well as federal, state, and local permitting issues)Handle disputes involving property claims, including by analyzing, drafting and negotiating pleadings and other critical documentation, and potentially representing the company in adjudicatory proceedingsParticipate in industry trade groups and association committees to contribute thought leadership and advocacy on legislative and regulatory issues that impact TC EnergyManage matters and supervise external legal counsel within approved budget limitsProvide legal support for the natural gas pipeline emergency response programMinimum QualificationsUndergraduate degree from an accredited college or universityJuris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law schoolActive license to practice law in the U.S.Minimum four years of relevant legal experience*Ability to analyze complex matters in a proactive manner, proposing creative and practical solutionsExcellent communication and advocacy skills (oral and written)Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environmentAbility to coordinate with other legal and business functionsPreferred QualificationsGeneral understanding of the natural gas pipeline businessExperience with property rights and project development of pipelines and other energy infrastructureSignificant experience with condemnation, project permitting and regulatory permitting related to natural gas pipeline infrastructureLitigation experience in federal courtsPrior in-house experience and/or previous related federal agency experienceTo remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-HybridAbout our businessTC Energy is a leading energy infrastructure company in North America.
