Current career Postal Service employees are ineligible to apply to this posting.DutiesThe Procurement Law team provides primary legal support for clients in the Postal Service’s Supply Management, Transportation Strategy, and Fleet Modernization & Electrification organizations within one of the world’s largest logistical networks. Our clients purchase equipment and services needed to fulfill the Postal Service’s nationwide, universal service mission and to support the strategic goals of the Postal Service’s Delivering for America plan (more information about Delivering for America is available ).As examples, recent major procurements have included, among other things: replacing a fleet of over 150,000 delivery vehicles with modern electric and non-electric vehicles, including a new charging infrastructure for electric vehicles; automation and robotics technology; air and surface transportation; financial and consulting services; software; telecommunications; and cybersecurity technology to protect our employees’ and customers’ data.The Procurement Law team provides cradle-to-grave support for all major procurements, advising on the solicitation process, negotiation of contract awards, and post-award claims and disputes. We also provide advice concerning pre- and post-award procurement protests, debarments, and congressional and media inquiries, among other assignments. Additionally, we represent the Postal Service in a first-chair capacity in cases before the Postal Service Board of Contract Appeals.Although experience in government contracts is preferred, attorneys with three or more years of experience in related areas of federal law, commercial contract disputes and litigation, or contract negotiation, are also encouraged to apply.Responsibilities * Conducts legal research and prepares written material for use in representing the Postal Service and advising postal management officials.
