Description: As ARA’s Government Relations Associate you will perform political and legislative research and tracking of complex public policy issues ranging from national defense and homeland security to energy and health. Develop legislative strategies to enact desired outcomes in law. Develop written, visual, and presentation materials in support of strategies for use during engagements with Capitol Hill. Conduct limited engagements with Capitol Hill under close supervision and guidance. Prepare policy reports and briefs and present findings. Analyze and prepare legislative proposals. Evaluate the effectiveness of existing government policies and programs and formulate recommendations regarding strategies to achieve identified mission. Organize and conduct political fundraising events. Manage and coordinate external lobbying, political compliance, and political fundraising consultants. Undertake management special projects as assigned.What you’ll do as a Government Relations Associate

  • Develop, manage, and track ARA legislative priorities by fiscal year cycle.
  • Develop, manage, and track ARA interactions with Hill members and staff.
  • Track and report on floor and committee activities of the House and Senate.
  • Organize and execute fundraising events.
  • Support the management of ARA’s political action committee and related fundraising activities.
  • Analyze legislation of importance to ARA and prepare legislative proposals.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders in support of the goals of ARA government relations.
  • Limited lobbying activities in support of the goals of ARA government relations.

+Government Relations Associate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience related to the position.
  • Strong written and oral communicator.
  • Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

+Government Relations Associate Preferences

  • Limited Capitol Hill experience, such as in an intern or staff assistant role
  • Intermediate skill level in Excel
  • Skilled using Bloomberg Government’

Hybrid Work Notice: This position is available for hybrid work consideration. Qualified candidates must work onsite in our Arlington, VA office, but may be considered for a hybrid schedule.
