Description: Bullis School seeks a Middle School Language Arts Teacher to contribute to our vibrant learning community for the 2025-266 academic year. Candidates should be capable of teaching a wide range of learners with a specific focus on implementing a robust and engaging curriculum in language arts focused on developing strong skills, habits, and personal identities in reading and writing. This position involves teaching five classes, as well as co-curricular activities, including advising eight to twelve students.The Bullis Middle School cultivates independence and leadership in a supportive academic environment.   • Teach five classes per academic year
  • Duties within the community, including student advising or other extracurricular activities
  • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy
  • Collaborate with language arts colleagues to further advance department goals and initiatives
  • Participate and collaborate with teachers and other subject area experts on grade-level and interdisciplinary teams
  • Use technology to enhance students’ active, experiential, and hands-on learning
  • Create learning environments that encourage risk-taking and deep learning for students with a range of learning abilities using a variety of methods and technology
  • Use of reflection and feedback aimed at continued growth in the field of teaching and working with young people
  • Collaborate with grade level colleagues to develop project based learning opportunities for students
  • Remain current in pedagogical practices and field-related trends
  • Attend Middle School divisional, social studies department, grade-level, and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Communicate with parents, school counselors, and administrators on students’ progress, as needed and appropriate.
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standard and provide timely feedback to students
  • Use the student learning management system to provide timely feedback, grades, and assignments to students.

Other Duties

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Head of Middle School
  • Continued professional development endeavors

Education and ExperienceRequired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education or related field
  • Minimum of two years prior teaching experience

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in English, Education or related field
  • Proficiency with Windows or Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software

Compensation and benefits are competitive, with an anticipated annual salary range of $65,000 to $ 95,000Benefits include:
