With a startup mindset and strong institutional foundation, we are expanding our reach and impact through new initiatives, strategic partnerships, and a growing professional staff.About the Inaugural PositionThe Director of Business Development will lead the sales and marketing strategy for Stanford Law Executive Education’s expanding portfolio of programs. This individual will work closely with the Associate Dean to drive enrollment, grow strategic partnerships, and increase visibility across legal, business, and public sector audiences. In addition to leading outreach and growth efforts, the Director will provide strategic input into program design—helping to shape offerings that meet the evolving needs of our participants and partners.As part of a newly established and growing department, the Director will play a key role in building the future of executive legal education at Stanford and beyond, and will work closely with colleagues at the law school to align our goals with the overall revenue-generating goals of the law school.CORE DUTIES:

• Develop, manage, and execute strategic sales and marketing strategies that include relationship development, communications, and compliance to meet business objectives. Cultivate and solicit organizations and individuals to engage with the department. Work with a portfolio of assigned prospective clients and partners to cultivate and steward their engagement.
• Create and manage the execution of an integrated communication strategy that leverages the brand strategy, incorporating appropriate channels (i.e., web, print, email, online).
• Define and conduct market research, including competitive benchmarking, identification of market opportunities, and campaign/program/service/event analysis. Use the results to make strategic decisions and develop enrollment and partnership goals/objectives for open-enrollment and custom executive education programs.
• Take responsibility for a wide range of business development activities, including maintaining an active level of contacts, identifying new prospective participants and partner organizations, providing stewardship, and coordinating referral and word-of-mouth efforts.
• Communicate marketing plans across the organization and/or university to educate and influence stakeholders by managing an active portfolio, and track engagement and enrollment.
• Build partnerships with other schools, departments, and represent SLS at the university as well as to external stakeholders and constituencies. Enhance relationships between current and prospective participants, organizational partners, and the school or unit’s faculty, students, dean, and staff.
• Establish ongoing relationships with individual program participants, partner organizations, and prospective clients through personal visits, phone calls, and meaningful contacts.
• Stay informed on current department and university initiatives and activities.
• May oversee event management to support marketing objectives.
• Manage key vendor and consultant relationships.
• Scope and manage project/program budget(s).
• May oversee interns and other contingent staff; provide staff training.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior leaders.
• Extensive knowledge of strategic analysis, customer segmentation strategies and business and marketing planning.
• Demonstrated experience in integrated marketing strategy and execution across channels including digital; and print.
• Demonstrated application of market research and data analysis.
• Excellent project manager with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience presenting to senior management.

The expected pay range for this position is $149,660 to $175,558 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
