Description: Summary of Responsibilities: The Director of the Low Residency MFA Program in Cultural Administration (MFACA Director) is a designated program administrator and is classified as a staff position. The MFACA Director facilitates the daily management and operations of the MFACA department and is directly responsible for the development of the program outlined in the Essential Functions within the context of IAIA’s mission, vision and core values. The MFACA Director supervises the MFACA Department Staff, MFA CA Mentors, MFACA Adjuncts and MFACA Tutors and leads program development, curriculum development, assessment and program review. The MFACA Director will work with the MFACA Staff, and IAIA Admissions Department to actively recruit students to the MFACA program and assist in stewarding their application process and review. The MFACA Director will work with the Provost’ office to ensure program compliance with accreditation standards. The MFACA Director will work with the Office of Advancement, Sponsored Programs and the Provost on fundraising efforts for the department.Essential Functions:· Oversee the annual MFACA Program budget.· Serve as the primary MFACA Program contact.· Oversee MFACA academic program delivery.· Lead curriculum development for the MFACA Program.· Manage the strategic direction, organization, and operation of program.· Hire and Supervise MFACA Department Staff, Adjuncts, Mentors and Tutors.· Conduct MFACA student recruiting in collaboration with the IAIA Office of Admissions.· Form and lead committee to review annual MFACA applicants.· Provide Academic and Career Advising for MFACA students.· Work with the IAIA Office of Institutional Advancement, Office of Sponsored Program and Provost to Identify and secure departmental funding and scholarships.· Create and lead MFACA scholarship awarding committee.· Work with the IAIA Communications Department on the creation and distribution of MFACA recruiting and promotional materials.· Work with the IAIA Communications department on the regular updating of the MFACA webpage and online content.· Plan, organize and oversee annual MFACA summer residencies.· Plan, organize and oversee annual MFACA graduate residency· Plan, organize and oversee MFACA graduation activities.· Lead program and class assessments.· Lead MFACA Program Reviews.· Respond to all graduate student issues and concerns in a timely manner.· Maintain ongoing professional practices and demonstrate a recognized standing in Indigenous Museological, Cultural and Arts related professional and fields.· Participate in educational and professional activities within the Institute.· Provide students with proficient advising in the MFACA Program.· Provide guidance and information on career opportunities for MFACA students.· Participate in assigned committee work and meetings as an ex-officio or named committee member.· Other duties as assigned.RequirementsRequired Education and Professional Experience: Requires a Masters in Cultural Administration, Museum Studies, Art History or related field. PhD preferred. Must demonstrate a high level of professional achievement in areas related to the curriculum of the MFACA department. Must have experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native artists, cultures and communities.Required Competencies (Skills/Knowledge and Abilities):· Possess comprehensive knowledge of Cultural/ Arts Administration and Museological practices.· Possess excellent and proven communication and problem-solving skills as they relate to supervisory responsibilities.· Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels and with all peoples and groups.· Proven ability to interact and work successfully with faculty, students, and staff as related to job responsibilities.· Demonstrated ability and willingness to support program goals and objectives and take a leadership role in further developing strategic goals of the MFACA Program.· Demonstrated ability to guide and facilitate students through a process of knowledge and skill building.· Demonstrated sensitivity towards Native American and an ability to motivate and teach students from diverse ethnic backgrounds.· Demonstrated commitment to working in a shared governance environment.· Adherence to appropriate professional standards of conduct and ethics, including: * confidentiality.
