Description: POSITION PURPOSE: The Language Teacher is a full-time position responsible for expanding teaching in Spanish language immersion program. One Language Teacher will be hired for each school in the Hilton Head Island cluster to expand our dual language immersion program at Hilton Head Island Elementary and launch a comprehensive Spanish language immersion program at our middle and high schools within the framework of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement a Spanish language immersion curriculum tailored to elementary, middle, and high school students, aligning closely with the objectives of the MSAP.
  • Provide instruction in Spanish language and culture to students using immersion teaching methods and strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with school staff to seamlessly integrate Spanish language instruction across various subject areas, promoting interdisciplinary learning and cross-curricular connections.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters language acquisition and cultural understanding.
  • Assess student progress in language proficiency and adjust instruction accordingly to meet individual learning needs.
  • Collaborate with fellow language teachers and school administrators to shape program development initiatives, share best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid South Carolina teaching certificate or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired.
  • Native Spanish speaker preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience teaching students utilizing a language immersion model and curriculum preferred.
  • Knowledge of language acquisition theories and best practices in language instruction.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
