Description: Job Description:Primary Purpose:Conducts formal psychological evaluations of various target student populations for special education eligibility, planning, placement and consultationwith or referral to available resources. Provide psychological services to special education students.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Master’s degree and valid license issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, oreligibility as LSSP Intern under TSBEP regulations.Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional and behavioral functioning for educational purposes.Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions. Knowledge of psycho-social development.Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students.Experience:Two years experience in providing psychology services in an educational setting, preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:

Supervisory Responsibilities:May be required to supervise a practicum student, intern, or trainee.Working ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. May be required to lift and transfer students to and fromwheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities. May be required torestrain students or assist in restraint.Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide travelMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.Must be able to multi-task. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff, in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Regular districtwide travel to multiple work locations asassigned; moderate lifting and carrying.*Note: The correct title for the person holding the Licensed Specialist in School Psychology isLicensed Specialist in School Psychology or LSSP.
