We are a diverse, tuition-free public charter school serving students in the heart of Birmingham.Position Overview:We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and culturally responsive 8th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our middle school team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to think critically, read deeply, write effectively, and communicate with confidence. As an i3 educator, you will play a vital role in preparing scholars for high school and beyond through meaningful instruction and authentic learning experiences.Key Responsibilities:Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned ELA instruction for 8th grade studentsFoster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of reading and writingUse data to inform instruction and differentiate to meet the needs of all learnersCollaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and thematic unitsBuild strong relationships with students, families, and the broader school communityEngage in ongoing professional development aligned to i3 Academy’s mission and instructional modelUphold high expectations for academic achievement and behaviorQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or related field (required)Valid Alabama teaching certification in English Language Arts (or eligibility to obtain)Experience teaching middle school students, preferably in an urban or charter settingCommitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teachingStrong classroom management and communication skillsGrowth mindset and willingness to innovate and collaborateWhy Join i3 Academy?Mission-driven and student-centered cultureSupportive and collaborative team environmentCommitment to professional growth and teacher leadershipOpportunities for innovation and creativity in curriculum and instruction
