Description: Job Description:ANTICIPATED SY 25/26 – ELA TEACHER – SWAMPSCOTT MIDDLE SCHOOLSwampscott Middle School is searching for a dynamic 6th-grade English teacher who has a passion for the subject matter, as well as teaching their students. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of the English language, demonstrating expertise in its subject matter and conventions. A genuine enthusiasm for middle school students and the curriculum is essential, alongside a proven ability to collaborate effectively with a co-teacher, within a team, and with a counterpart. We seek an educator who is knowledgeable in the latest pedagogical strategies to ignite a love of literature in sixth-grade students and is proficient in guiding them through various types of writing. This role involves teaching the drafting process to empower students to achieve high-quality final written pieces, all while demonstrating a thorough understanding of and the ability to engage and teach the Massachusetts curriculum standards for Middle School ELA. Flexibility and a collaborative spirit are crucial for success in our dynamic team environment.Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of teaching experience preferred
  • Valid DESE license in English 5-12
  • SEI endorsement
  • Command of the subject matter and conventions of the English language.
  • Enthusiasm for the curriculum and middle school students
  • Emphasis on collaboration with a co-teacher, within a team, and with a counterpart
  • Knowledge of the latest pedagogical strategies to engage middle school students in loving literature
  • Proficient in various types of writing for a Middle School student
  • Teach the drafting process of writing to achieve high-quality, final written pieces
  • Knowledge and adherence to (engagingly) teaching the MA curriculum standards for Middle School ELA
  • Flexible and enjoys working as part of a team

Physical Requirements:This position may require long periods of sitting, talking, or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; and reaching with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights, as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment.
