- Hold a bachelor’s degree in education, or in a related field, from an accredited college or university
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with a ZG or ZE endorsement
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certification for teaching 6-12 with a LX, LQ, or LZ endorsement for art education or meet Michigan teaching permit requirements through enrollment in a teacher certification program leading to a Michigan 6-12 teaching certificate with an LX, LQ, or LZ endorsement(s), preferred
Job Description:
- Instruct students, grades 6-8, in art education
- Maintain a structured environment that supports classroom management where students feel safe and engaged, promoting focus and collaboration
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in order to advance student achievement
- Work collaboratively with a team to plan instruction, develop lesson plans and instructional materials, provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students
- Acknowledge and embrace diversity to create an inclusive environment that respects and appreciates different backgrounds and perspectives
- Establish open communications with students, parents, staff, and the community
- Participate in district and school professional development programs, as required
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
- Any other duties assigned by the Principal, and/or designee
