Description: Description:Job Title:Art Teacher-IntermediateRole Type:InstructionalStart Date:July 28, 2025Department/SubjectArtPosition Type:Full TimeGrade:4-8Reports to:Director of School OperationsPosition OverviewLegacy Prep is seeking dynamic Exploratory Arts teachers that are leaders both in their classroom and outside of their classroom, who love students, families and the community and who are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their students learn and achieve. Exploratory Arts teachers are not required to serve in a full-time capacity. It is ideal for candidates to enter into an engagement agreement as a consultant/contracted service provider. Additionally, the role can be filled by individuals or organizations.Primary Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Curriculum Development and Instructionâ Development and execute a rigorous curriculum and assess students’ progressâ Develop rigorous lessons, create unit plans, rubrics, and assessmentsâ Provide students with daily feedback on performance in habits of success, and plan for individual learning needsâ Demonstrate strong pedagogy and passion for content areaCommitment to School and Classroom Cultureâ Work collaboratively with the school teamâ Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers, and familiesâ Attend and participate in applicable staff meetings and communicate openly with staffâ Develop positive rapport with students and familiesâ Create and foster a positive and calm learning environmentâ Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and cultureFamily Engagementâ Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progressâ Be available to open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and other events involving familiesGrowth Mindsetâ Pursue challenging professional goals each yearâ Willing to offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvementâ Participate in applicable school-wide and individual professional development, including summer learning institute and weekly during the academic year (held during school hours)â Participate in daily duties (i.e. breakfast, lunch, dismissal) to support school operationsâ Maintain accurate records, grade book, and data tracking systemsEmployment QualificationsEducation:â Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year educational institution (master’s degree preferred)Experience:â Must be have significant work experience in content areaâ At least two years of teaching experience with elementary aged students (highly preferred)â Experience working in an educationally and/or economically disadvantaged community (highly preferred)Skillset:â Experience teaching via an innovative instructional model such as project-based learning (preferred)â A track record of success in the classroom, with data that you can explainâ Execute our core instructional model, leading high quality literacy, problem solving, and social emotional lessons from the Legacy Prep curriculumâ Gap closing teaching experience with proven record of student growthâ Expertise and a passion for teaching at an elementary level and possess a strong desire to grow as a teacherâ Utilize data to inform instruction, intervention, and acceleration (personalize the learning experience for all kids)Mindset:â Value the importance of working in a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environmentâ Exhibit a growth mindset as an educator and lifelong learnerâ Effectively collaborate with othersâ A collaborative attitude towards teaching and learningâ Capability to effectively build, develop and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders (e.g., students, teachers, administration, clinical team, families, outside agencies)â Ability to self-direct and prioritize among competing goals, exhibit flexibility, and drive results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environmentâ The ability to be flexible in a new school environment where things change all the timeâ Adept at thinking strategically/analytically, translating plans into action, and exhibiting excellent judgmentâ Excellent written and oral communication skills, and presentation skills with keen attention to detail; ability to invest stakeholders in student goalsâ A solution-oriented mindset and ability to bring a new lens to challenging problemsâ Be present and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that all students are on track lives of choice and opportunityâ Be willing to work an extended school day and yearâ Zest, grit, hope, curiosity, social and emotional intelligence, gratitude, self-control, and a sense of humor
