Together, we’re united in our mission and these shared values: we’re motivated by our faith, we support one another, we champion justice, we pursue excellence, and we’re in it for the long haul.As a Child Life History Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for gathering historical information about a child and writing a narrative that includes are required documentation. This individual will also be responsible for finalizing the narrative after appropriate review and submitting to the appropriate governmental agency within required timelines.This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contact referring case manager upon receipt of referral to gather required information;
  • Review file documents in SHINES to ensure necessary documents are available;
  • Interview the case manager using provided list of questions as a guideline;
  • Interview the foster parent using provided list of questions as a guideline;
  • Review documentation provided by DFCS case manager to ensure that all necessary medical records, psychological/psychiatric records, school records, developmental records, court orders and birth certificate records have been provided. Follow up to gather missing records;
  • Complete required forms;
  • Prepare written narrative regarding the child and submit within required timelines;
  • Revise changes and edits as requested;
  • Submit final copy of report, including narrative to the county within the required timelines;
  • Attend required meetings and trainings;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field of study from an accredited college and three years of social services experience;
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Commitment to permanency for children;
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
