Description: Position Purpose: Provides leadership and advocacy for the District’s K-12 performing and visual arts programs. Under the general supervision of the executive director of secondary education, promote the educational development and achievement of students in accordance with Board of Education policies, administrative procedures, rules and regulations and applicable law by providing program development and improvement, as well as professional staff development for all levels.Essential Functions:
- Facilitates and coordinates development of performance outcomes and expectations K-12 and alignment of curriculum K-12.
- Assist building principals with the hiring, supervision and evaluation of the district fine arts teachers and programs.
- Coordinates and implements necessary orientation and staff development programs for the fine arts programs, teachers, and sponsors regarding AAA, ADE, and district policies and procedures.
- Develops communication networks among schools and between schools and the fine arts community.
- Executes District initiatives, equity and consistency of fine arts programs, and manages balanced fine arts program budgets.
- Collaborates to develop and maintain a District Visual and Performing Arts Strategic Plan.
- Serves as a liaison with the fine arts community for the establishment of partnerships as well as local, regional and state fine arts organizations.
- Oversees an annual audit and equipment inventory, replacement schedule, repair/upkeep and rental process for all equipment and supplies.
- Schedules activities for the fine arts department and coordinates with the Director of Performing Arts Centers.
- Maintains high visibility at a variety of district performances and competitions.
- Develops long-range replacement schedule for major equipment of the fine arts program in conjunction with all related parties.
- Supervises preparation of public relations materials and projects related to fine arts programs.
- Monitors current trends and best practices necessary to meet the needs of the fine arts participants.
- Suggests development or revision of policies and procedures related to fine arts education programs.
- Serves as a liaison with local, regional, and state fine arts organizations.
- Advocates for excellence in fine arts education in a comprehensive educational program for students.
- Seeks and applies for fine arts grant funding in conjunction with the executive director of secondary.
- Assists in identifying and recruiting quality new fine arts staff to the district.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Secondary Education or other Senior Administrative Team member as designated by the Superintendent.Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. - Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
- Knowledge of sound, lights, and rigging systems for performing arts accessories for collaboration on needed replacements and repairs/upkeep of equipment.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings, competitions, and professional meetings as required.Knowledge, Skills and Mental Ability:
- Demonstrated exemplary success in one of the following areas: art, vocal music, instrumental music, or theater education.
- Knowledge of and experience with art, vocal and instrumental music, or theater education.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of best practices in administration, program evaluation and staff supervision.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of budgeting, grant acquisition, and other resources.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral formats with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Ability to work with people of various personality types.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Possess sound emotional judgment.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain vision and mission of programs.
- Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance, and professional growth.

Job Qualifications
- Arkansas Teaching Licensure
- Master’s Degree in the Field of Education
- Bachelors and Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience
- Three (3) years of building administration preferred
- Ten (10) years teaching experience in fine arts with exemplary success preferred
