If you’re passionate about helping others, Northumberland County Drug and Alcohol Services wants to hear from you!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs a Drug & Alcohol Prevention Program Specialist, duties will entail the following:Conduct presentations to community groups, to develop an awareness of drug and alcohol problems in the community.Provide students with the latest drug and alcohol information.Provide assistance to schools starting prevention programs.Introduce the state recommended drug and alcohol curriculum to school districts by contacting school superintendents, curriculum directors, and parent groups in order to provide the initial information.Conduct presentations on drug and alcohol topics to parent groups, elementary classes, high school, and driver education classes in order to inform them of current trends and ideas.Distribute pamphlets to physicians relating to Fetal Alcohol Syndrome in order to apprise them of the problems of alcohol consumption during pregnancy.Present general information talks on drug and alcohol topics to churches, senior citizen groups, fraternal organizations, youth groups, and PTOs.Provide training to resident advisors from local colleges on recognizing and referring students with drug and alcohol problems.Organize drug and alcohol prevention groups for youth involving community improvement projects and social activities as a means of channeling potential drug and alcohol abusers in a positive fashion.Work Schedule and Additional Information:
