Description: OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONVHB is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice. The position will be based in our Winooski, VT office. This hire will develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs, have excellent communication skills, be comfortable working in the office and field and enjoy mentoring junior team members.At VHB we are passionate about making meaningful contributions to the world through the work that we do.   • Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
  • Provide hands-on support during field exploration and testing
  • Interpret and effectively communicate investigation findings
  • Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
  • Manage and perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Design remediation systems and develop corrective action plans
  • Write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda
  • Mentors and may supervise junior team members
  • Organizes work schedules and delegates tasks
  • Conducts quality assurance reviews of project deliverables
  • Attends meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders in support of project

Skills and Attributes

  • Problem solve and work independently
  • Familiarity with contaminant transport preferred for site investigation & remediation practice
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including EPA (TSCA), VT Department of Health, and DEC (IRule)
  • Team-oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
  • The ability to lead a small team and complete multiple projects simultaneously
  • Fundamental knowledge of building construction, materials, and environmental processes

Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. in a Natural Science related field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of environmental consulting experience required
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required
  • VT brownfield site investigation and remediation experience preferred
  • Working experience with hazardous building materials, building systems, and HVAC preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
