Description: The West Virginia University College of Law seeks a Fellow to start on or after August 1, 2025. The fellow position is a one-year non-tenure track appointment with the opportunity for reappointment based on performance and funding availability.The Fitzsimmons Center for Litigation and Advocacy’s mission is to train law students to become effective legal advocates by enhancing and expanding the litigation and advocacy curriculum at the WVU College of Law. The Center aims to provide additional opportunities for students to hone essential lawyering skills including understanding and analyzing the applicable substantive and procedural law while translating the knowledge into effective written and oral advocacy.The Fellow will work with the Director of the Fitzsimmons Center for Litigation and Advocacy to support and assist in executing the strategic plan to enhance curricular opportunities and practical training for law students and instructors and work to enhance outreach to the bench and the bar. The Fellow will also support written advocacy by working in the College of Law Writing Center to provide writers with one-on-one consultations, group presentations, and instructional resources. The Fellow will design, coordinate, and execute writing support throughout the curriculum and coordinating activities of the Writing Center. The Fellow will support both Centers in designing and implementing assessment activities. The Fellow will report to the Director of the College of Law Writing Center.For further information, contact Melanie Jordan, Assistant Dean for Curriculum and Assessment, at melanie.jordan@mail.wvu.edu.QualificationsCandidates must possess a JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be a licensed attorney with a minimum of two years of experience practicing law and/or serving as a judicial law clerk. Applicants must have strong academic credentials; writing experience in a judicial clerkship, law practice, or both; as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with various constituencies preferred.
