The incumbent will work under very general supervision to provide training to sentinel hospital laboratory personnel, first responders, and DOH employees. Considerable independent judgement, initiative, and extensive on-going self-study is required. Travel is required in this position.Consults with stakeholders to establish or maintain partnerships for Public Health Emergency Preparedness. Creates and maintain records to generate reports and brief program manager on program position and status. Coordinates, schedules, registers participants for, facilitates, and/or conducts trainings in cooperation with the biodefense coordinators and the other trainers using manual, TRAIN, webinars, and other methods.Schedules, registers participants for, facilitates, and/or conducts LRN-B Sentinel Laboratory training, Division 6.2 Packaging and Shipping, or First Responder training in coordination with the biodefense coordinators and the other BT trainers using manual, TRAIN, webinars, and other methods. Maintains contact with Sentinel Laboratories via virtual/ in-person visits, telephone, and/or email; and facilitates and conducts Sentinel Laboratory drills and exercises.Updates training curriculum and materials with the assistance of the other BT trainers. This includes but is not limited to the following modules: LRN; ASM/LRN procedures for ruling out potential bioterrorism agents; referral of suspicious samples to the state LRN Reference Laboratory; overview of packaging and shipping rules and regulations; College of American Pathologists’ Laboratory Preparedness Exercise (CAP LPX); CDC Select Agent Program (SAP); novel influenza and/or emerging infectious diseases; and biosafety. tracks and compiles CAP LPX results of participating facilities.Enters participant training and/or drill information into the BT database and CE broker; and generates and mails training certificates. Sends training and other announcements to sentinel laboratories using the contact information in sentinel laboratory database.Maintains contact with Sentinel Laboratories via in person visits, telephone, and/or email; and facilitates and conducts Sentinel Laboratory drills/exercises and serves as editor of the Quarterly Lab Link Newsletter by soliciting and/or writing feature articles, editing, formatting, and submitting for approval.Performs related duties as required.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to work independently.
