Description: Description of WorkThe Office of the State Controller**INTERNAL POSTING** – Available only to current, permanent employees of the N.C. Office of State ControllerThe mission of the Office of the State Controller (OSC) is to protect the financial integrity of the State and promote accountability in an objective and efficient manner.The foundational principles of the office are Integrity/Ethics, Objectivity and Accountability. OSC’s overall goals are to optimize operational execution, manage risk effectively and efficiently and foster a high-performance culture. OSC will provide excellent customer service while achieving those goals. The State Controller is the State’s Chief Fiscal Officer. The Controller serves as an independent resource to protect the financial integrity of the State and to promote accountability in an objective and efficient manner through accounting, disbursing, payroll, internal control, eCommerce, and financial reporting systems. The basis for the Controller’s authority is statutory.Description of Work:The primary purpose of the Basis Architect is to provide technical direction and planning for the SAP HR Payroll system landscape to ensure access and availability. The Basis Architect also outlines Best Practices and Procedures for the Basis team to ensure the overall health and stability of the HR Payroll systems.SAP NetWeaver

  • Plan/Organize/Manage SAP technical projects and project timelines across multiple OSC teams and multiple SAP landscapes
  • Perform Technical Solution Design for SAP NetWeaver projects
  • Install/Configure SAP systems on Windows and Linux platforms
  • Design/Specify/Monitor network architecture, access control systems, network security, and server security management practices for SAP Systems
  • Mentor/Guide Technical Team to support/monitor/maintain SAP NetWeaver systems.
  • Mentor/Guide Technical Team to patch/upgrade SAP NetWeaver systems.
  • Mentor/Guide Technical Team to monitor/maintain Oracle database in an SAP environment including database checks, database backups and recovery, brtools, etc.
  • Mentor/Guide Technical Team to remediate SAP vulnerability findings in SAP systems
  • Mentor/Guide Technical Team to manage SAP platform software logistics such as transport management system, client administration, system connectivity configuration, OS Note, system copies / refreshes, client copies, etc. in a promote-to-production environment.

SAP On AWS Infrastructure

  • Perform Technical Solution design for SAP NetWeaver on AWS Projects
  • Mentor/Guide Technical Team to support/monitor/maintain SAP NetWeaver systems on AWS
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS IAM
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS Security Groups
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS Tagging
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS EC2
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS EFS and EBS
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS Backups
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS Load Balancers
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS CloudWatch
  • Specify/Monitor/Configure AWS OS Patching
  • Generate/Review/Remediate AWS Security Hub findings

Oracle Support

  • Perform Oracle Database administration and maintenance tasks including patch, copy, troubleshoot, and administer databases
  • Perform backup/restore, troubleshooting extending tables, creating indices, collecting statistics, and interacting with OSC partner to assure operation of the database landscape
  • Review/Monitor database backups strategy and architecture

IT Architecture Oversite

  • Oversee/mentor OSC Technical Team processes for Monitoring, Maintenance, Support, and Performance Tuning of HR/Pay Systems
  • Oversee/mentor the SAP application architecture and design including Distributed Systems, High Availability, Sizing, Scalability, Disaster Recovery, Client Strategy, Monitoring, Network, Oracle database, Backups strategy
  • Develop and review procedures for Monitoring, Maintenance, Support, and Performance Tuning of HR/Pay Systems

IT Architecture Design and Consulting

  • Address problems of system integration and compatibility with HR/Pay systems
  • Determine and develop architectural approaches and solutions for HR/Pay systems
  • Document current system and conduct business reviews of current HR/Pay systems
  • Consult/Contribute to risk management of IT assets and overall OSC IT planning strategy for HR/Pay systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesNOTE: The knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’S) and the Minimum Education and Experience are REQUIRED in order to be considered qualified for this vacancy. Therefore, you MUST provide supporting information within the body of your application that clearly demonstrates your possession of the KSA’s and the minimum education and experience requirements.

  • Working knowledge of network architecture, access control systems, network security, and server security management practices
  • Technical solution implementation experience configuring and maintaining SAP on AWS infrastructure, for example AWS IAM, Tagging, EC2, Backups, OS Patching, EBS, EFS, S3, Security Group, Load Balancers, CloudWatch
  • Working experience with vulnerability remediation on SAP Systems
  • Demonstrated ability to perform problem analysis, and resolve complex technical problems
  • Demonstrated ability to provide consultation to clients on technical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Client/Server technology and architecture
  • Working experience and knowledge of server virtualization
  • Working knowledge of multi-tier environments and experience with promote-to-production environments.
  • Technical knowledge and experience supporting, monitoring, maintaining, and patching SAP NetWeaversystems.
  • Technical knowledge and experience managing SAP platform software logistics such as transport management system, client administration, system connectivity configuration, OS Note, system copies / refreshes, client copies, etc.
  • Technical solution implementation experience installing, configuring and administering SAP systems on Windows and Linux platforms in a multi-tier environment
  • Technical knowledge of and experience in SAP Basis Operations and Production Support in a distributed, high availability environment.
  • Strong Planning, Organization and Project Management skills with the ability to lead highly complex projects.
  • Experience with:
  • Addressing problems of system integration and compatibility with SAP systems
  • Determining and Develop Architectural approaches and solutions for SAP systems
  • Assessing and communicating risks with SAP systems and architecture

Management Prefers:

  • Demonstrated working experience with SAP Cloud ALM.
  • Demonstrated working experience with SAP S4/HANA.
