Duties and ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:The Law School Instructional Design team in the Law School’s Office of Academic Affairs supports instructional design across all programs in the School of Law (J.D. and non-J.D). Instructional designers collaborate across the law school and university, working closely with Law School Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Academic Program Directors, faculty, and staff as well as with Law School Computing Services and University Office of Online Learning to provide instructional design support based on best practices in the areas of curricular and course design, technology, and related training and documentation.Law School Instructional Designers report to the Associate Dean for Administration with accountability to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Academic Program Directors.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Minimum Education and/or Work ExperienceMaster’s degree and three to five years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology or related field required. Equivalent combination of experience may be considered.
Qualifications– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Must have demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional design best practices for web-based learning.
– Ability to develop and maintain professional, productive work relationship with law faculty and academic department colleagues.
Certificates/Credentials/LicensesMaster’s degree and three to five years of experience in instructional design, instructional technology or related field required. Equivalent combination of experience may be considered.
Computer SkillsStrong aptitude for learning new technologies required. Loyola University Chicago uses Sakai as the learning management system. Familiarity and/or experience working in Sakai is strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and email applications. Strong working knowledge of HTML, web, graphic and video design methodologies and applications, web technologies, and computer-based training software required.
