Description: Our client is a busy Amherst law office looking for a skilled and highly organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team with administrative and clerical tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of legal procedures and terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. As a Legal Administrative Assistant, you will assist attorneys by preparing legal documents, scheduling appointments, managing case files, and handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
  • Manage attorneys’ calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate court dates and deadlines.
  • File legal documents with courts, government agencies, and other legal entities.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic legal files and case management systems.
  • Conduct basic legal research and compile necessary documentation.
  • Handle client communications, including answering phone calls, emails, and greeting visitors.
  • Draft and send correspondence on behalf of attorneys.
  • Process legal invoices, billing, and expense tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with court deadlines, filing requirements, and firm policies.
  • Manage office supplies, order legal reference materials, and assist with general office duties.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification as a Legal Secretary or Paralegal (a plus).
  • 2+ years of strong administrative experience required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a legal environment or as a Legal Secretary; family law experience is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under deadlines.
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with clients, court officials, and attorneys.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Family law experience.
  • Knowledge of court filing procedures and e-filing systems.
  • Familiarity with legal billing software.

Salary: $24 – 30 per hour

Location: Williamsville, NY
