Represents the department, understands the complexities of a large research library, and clearly articulates policies and procedures to patrons and other library staff. Troubleshoots problems with patron accounts and refers problems to library management as necessary. Processes requests for Access Services functions, including Eli Express, Resource Sharing, and Voyager retrievals. Creates and updates documentation for department workflows and policies. Assists with accurate collection and recording of library statistics; enters and retrieves data from spreadsheets and databases.Coordinates and assists with receiving deliveries, reserving spaces within the Arts Library, and supporting maintenance of current library access information online and onsite. Acts as primary coordinator for the Arts Library Course Reserves service processing requests and supporting faculty, staff, and students with accessing reserve materials.Routinely assesses policies and procedures to ensure efficiency. Resolves patron questions about library fines and fees. Continues to deepen understanding of Arts Library collections and services through training opportunities provided; stays current as changes occur. Exercising independent judgment, interviews library patrons to determine scope and depth of requests, then responds to or refers requests for appropriate action. Refers patrons to librarians for further research assistance using a triage system. In coordination with Team Leaders, organizes and executes stacks maintenance projects: facilitating LSF transfers, shifts, etc.Serves on the Arts Library Special Collections (ALSC) service desk and provides back-up as needed, including but not limited to breaks and both unexpected and planned staff absences. Creates and updates confidential patron records. Monitors the use of materials and instructs readers in procedures designed to prevent theft or damage. Provides support for ALSC archival program, including but not limited to assisting with archival processing, creating preliminary inventories, and assisting with research in archival collections to support reference queries and exhibition preparation. May be required to assist with disaster recovery operations, serve on department or library committees, and perform other departmental support duties.Physical RequirementsAbility to push loaded book trucks; carry packages, boxes, or books up to 35 pounds; reach high shelves with step stools and ladders and bend down to low areas. Ability to stand or sit for scheduled hours and tolerate dust. Occasionally work in an environment with mildew present.Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:Degree in an art, theater, architecture, design, or related field, or is a practitioner in one or more of these areas. Experience with art, architecture, or theater library collections.
