1. Valid current Washington State teaching certificate with endorsements in Elementary Education, K-8 or Art Endorsement2. Satisfactory evaluationsQualifications prefered:
1. Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement Washington State Essential Academic Learning Requirements for Art Education.
2. Endorsement in second core subject area.
3. Evidence of recent successful experience working with students in a multicultural educational setting, with a belief and desire to teach all students.
4. Teaching experience in Art within the past five years.
5. Evidence of high standards in classroom management and student achievement.
6. Participate in departmental projects/activities including Arts Academy programming.
7. Broad teaching repertoire, including instructional approaches as ITIP, TESA, GESA, Multiple Intelligence’s, Cooperative Learning.
8. Willingness to provide opportunities for students interested in pursuing art as a career objective such as linking with local artists, Allied Arts Council, or developing professional portfolios.
9. Punctual and consistent attendance.Job Description:
1. Teach a variety of introductory art/drawing courses and ceramics courses.
2. Participate as a team member of the visual arts department in a collaborative and cooperative manner.
3. Communicate regularly and positively with students and parents regarding student progress and behavior.
4. Maintain a positive attitude and productive learning environment.
5. Ability to teach in a second endorsement area.
6. Enforce all KSD rules and District-wide policies.
7. Demonstrate ability to provide leadership and guidance to the youth leadership requirements of the program.
8. Actively participate in an assist with the development of the art curriculum as a part of a continuing evolutionary process as mandated by the Commission on Student Learning and the District Strategic Plan.
9. Provide for art education to be integrated with other core subject learning across the curriculum.

The noise level in this work environment is moderate.**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**Application Procedure: In-District staff must complete an internal online application by 10:00 p.m. (PST) on or before the closing date. In-building/In-district staff will have eight school days, or eight working days during the summer to apply for a vacant position through the online application system. The employee may choose but will not be required to meet with the building administrator to understand the building practices, procedures and initiatives specific to the position to which they are applying. After eight days if an in-building employee is qualified for the position, the principal will offer the employee the position. In the case that more than one in-building employee is interested in a position, the position will be offered to the qualified and senior employee. If a position is not filled in-building after the eight day period, the position will be offered to the qualified, most senior in-district applicant, if any. Teachers with a summative evaluation score of 1 or 2 are not eligible to transfer unless agreed upon by the District and Association.Out-of-District applicants must complete the online District application and attach a letter of interest, resume, valid Washington state teaching credential, and copies of transcripts with degree posted. All hires are subject to completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
