Description: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment· Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional effortsof the teacher.· Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas· Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, includingactivity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts· Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety ofmethods including stories, discussions, and role playing· Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present orreinforce learning concepts· Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing,typing, copying and filing instructional materials· Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials· Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approvedprocedures· Participate in professional growth activities· Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEducation:· Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or related field, Required· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferredExperience· Minimum 1 year of experience in a school setting or related field – Required· Minimum 2 years of experience working in an educational setting – Preferred· Successful experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified –MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing· Ability to understand and follow safety procedures· Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures· Ability to provide activities for students that encourage healthy growth· Child supervision skills· Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students · Skill in preparing instructional aids and plansCERTIFICATIONSMust hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional CertificatePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONSWorking Conditions:· Normal classroom environment· Understanding of detention operationsPhysical Demands:· Routine physical activities in the classroom / school environment· Light lifting of 30 pounds or lessQualifications to be determined by hiring organization based upon position requirements.
