Job ResponsibilitiesDirects statewide compliance of the Public Swimming Pools, Body Art and Tourist Accommodations programs. Establishes policy and procedures in compliance with rules, regulations, and codes. Ensure programs implemented to protect employees and communities. Directs subordinate staff. Provides direction and influence on agency policy. Reports to the EH Deputy Director. Provides leadership across multiple programs.Job Responsibilities: * Plans, organizes, and directs the work of the program to provide continuous service to internal and external clients.
Maintains professional knowledge of current laws, policies, trends and developments in the field of environmental health and applies pertinent new knowledge to performance of other responsibilities. * Creates and maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.
Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health or related field and 3 years professional level experience performing work related to area of assignment, 1 year of which was in a supervisory role OR Completion of a bachelor degree from an accredited four-year college or university with 27 semester hrs (40 quarter hrs) laboratory science and 5 years professional level experience performing work related to area of assignment, 2 years of which were in a supervisory rolePreferred:Completion of a Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health or related fieldCurrent registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Sanitarian by theNational Environmental Health Association or an equivalent recognized credentialing board.Completion of Manager or Leadership Development Training ProgramCompletion of NIMS 100, 200, 300/400, 700, 800.Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being.The use of physical activity breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals.
