Job Ttitle: Public Art Technician

Description: As the Public Art Technician, you will maintain and care for the permanent art collection and assist with temporary exhibits at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).

  • You will assist in the planning of installation and de-installation of a variety of artworks from the permanent collection and on loan from external collaborators.
  • You will clean, maintain, and prepare artworks for display using the correct materials and follow industry standards and best practices when handling art.
  • You will coordinate annual collection assessments, regularly inspect artworks, and provide condition reports on any area needing special attention.
  • You will ensure public art assets are safely stored and continually improve art storage to increase operational efficiency.
  • You will maintain, organize, and purchase tools, equipment, and inventory of supplies, and maintain the conservation budget.
  • You will coordinate with various Port departments on miscellaneous art/exhibit tasks or issues to facilitate resolution of problems, such as with lighting fixtures, signage, wall repairs and lift access.
  • You will write scope of work for service agreements and work with others to complete purchasing submissions, ensuring projects remain on schedule.
  • You will use a variety of computer software programs to create and review drawings, maintain the collection database, program video art media controllers, produce print files for sign shop, create PDF reports integrating images, and update Fulcrum asset reports.

Qualifications

  • Experienced – You have three (3) years of art handling and technical coordination experience in a museum, large public or corporate facility, and/or gallery.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Art, Fine Arts or Art History.

  • Technically Skilled – You have proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Outlook, SharePoint as well as Bluebeam Revu and Adobe Suite.
