Description: The South Hunterdon Regional School District, a PreK-12 district committed to excellence and innovation, is accepting applications for a Business Administrator/Board Secretary. The Business Administrator/Board Secretary shall strive to achieve district goals for pupils by providing leadership and supervision in the district program of fiscal management and in other assigned programs, and by acting as a proper model for staff and pupils both inside and outside the school district. The district is in the final stages of completing a 33 million dollar referendum which included the complete renovation of the South Hunterdon Regional Elementary School and the construction of a brand new middle school for students in grades 5-8 that will open this coming September.The Board Secretary/Business Administrator shall be responsible for performing the duties of the internal control/audit of financial transactions of the district approved by and/or involving the Superintendent and the Board of Education, and to effect notices of deficiency or discrepancy, when warranted, with appropriate external agencies. The School Business Administrator/Board Secretary fulfills a central role in planning and analysis of budget, expenditures, programs, and support systems, in a district serving 800 pupils with 3 schools and an annual operating budget of over 21 million dollars.Additionally, well-qualified candidates will be afforded the opportunity to perform the following:Oversight of departments and supervisors responsible for finance, payroll, accounts, purchasing, buildings and grounds, technology, transportation, and food servicesFacilitation of long-range planning for capital projects and budgetsFulfillment of statutory responsibilities of the position of Board SecretaryCollaboration in support of the mission of the school districtOutstanding written and oral communication skillsRequirements:Valid New Jersey School Business Administrator Standard or Certificate of Eligibility.Experience in this position or a similar positionExperience with New Jersey Preschool Expansion AidExperience in budget preparation and administration and understanding of statutory and code requirements related to school budgetingUnderstanding of the principles and practices of financial accounting and reporting procedures consistent with statute, code and GAAP requirementsKnowledge of statutory requirements and accepted practices in school districts related to insurance, purchasing, transportation, food services, school plant operations and facility planning
