This role involves completing a variety of maintenance tasks, including plumbing, refrigeration, electrical work, and ventilation systems. The manager is also responsible for assisting other maintenance personnel, collaborating with vendors and contractors, and regularly performing preventive maintenance to keep equipment in peak condition.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION:High school diploma or GED equivalentCERTIFICATION/LICENSE:EPA Refrigerant certificationValid Georgia Driver’s LicenseCriminal Justice FingerprintBackground ClearanceWORK EXPERIENCE:Minimum five (5) years’ experience in food service (kitchen) equipment repairDemonstrated ability to communicate and receive information both in person and on the telephoneKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIESSkills-based CompetenciesRequired to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: use job-related equipment; demonstrate flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; operate equipment using standardized methods; work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of information; analyze issues and create action plans; independently interpret guidelines; problem solve with equipment in in a wide variety of circumstances; establish and maintain constructive relationships; adapt to changing work priorities; exhibit tact and patience; and be able to work flexible hours.ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Generally ranges from 5-10 bullet points)Ensures prompt and regular attendance, demonstrating reliability and commitment.Maintains professional and effective communication with customers, staff, administrators, and vendors, ensuring cooperative interactions.Follows both verbal and written instructions to comply with operational guidelines.Promotes the school nutrition program, enhancing public relations and compliance with food safety and OSHA regulations.Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions in commercial food service and refrigeration systems, and performs a variety of skilled trade functions including plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work.Regularly maintains and fabricates equipment parts, ensuring operational safety and efficiency.Analyzes schematics and drawings for efficient installation and upgrades of equipment and systems.Trains school nutrition personnel in basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure proper function and safety.Manages and maintains a District-issued work vehicle and oversees the SensoScientific wireless temperature monitoring system for district freezers and coolers.Attends workshops and seminars, responds to emergency calls, and conducts routine and preventative maintenance, staying informed and prepared for all aspects of school nutrition equipment upkeep.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unitPHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONSThe Physical Abilities and Other Conditions of Continued Employment listed in this section are representative of, but are not intended to provide an exhaustive list of Physical Abilities and Other Conditions of Continued Employment which may be required of positions in this class.
