Description: Job Description:The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for Substitute Nutrition Manager.SUBSTITUTE NUTRITION MANAGER- (WORKS ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS ONLY).Job Summary:Manages, directs, supervises, participates in and is responsible for the operation of a school’s cafeteria and nutrition program.Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Knowledge of food, food costs and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of the use and care of kitchen and food service tools, supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the principles of supervision.
  • Knowledge of the standard procedures in ordering, receiving, storing, heating, serving and distributing meals.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to food establishments.
  • Knowledge of meal production planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate the work performance of school nutrition employees.
  • Ability to make mathematical computations and keep accurate records.
  • Ability to work with students, staff, parents and community groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and participates in the preparation, heating or cooking, assembling and serving of food for students, staff, and guests.
  • Maintains quality food standards, including appearance and taste.
  • Ensures that district developed menus, specifications and recipes are followed.
  • Supervises nutrition staff members by setting up work schedules, training, assigning and directing tasks, evaluating work performance, counseling, and recommending disciplinary action.
  • Ensures that proper customer service is provided by all school nutrition staff members.
  • Ensures that meals meet district, state, and federal meal requirements.
  • Monitors employee attendance and assists with leave entry and reporting, submission of time and attendance, and payroll data.
  • Orders and procures food and supplies as necessary for operations; ensures proper storage and use of food, equipment and supplies.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate production, operations and employment records.
  • Conducts food and supply inventories and counts as scheduled and as necessary.
  • Checks goods received against requisitions and invoices; contacts appropriate staff or vendors to correct errors.
  • Initiates requests for equipment repairs or replacement as needed; initiates requests for pest control services as needed; maintains service records.
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection of employees for the school nutrition program.
  • Trains and supervises school Nutrition Assistants in the areas of food preparation, use and care of equipment, sanitation and safety practices.
  • Implements security measures to prevent loss, vandalism and theft.
  • Follows approved Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) housekeeping and safety practices to ensure that sanitary working conditions are maintained in all areas of school nutrition.
  • Prepares, reviews, maintains, and submits reports, files and records as required by district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains responsibility for cash receipt and deposits; follows established procedures for handling cash and ensures that bank deposits are made in compliance with established schedules.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in school nutrition management or food service is required; or any equivalent combination of training or experience.
  • Must complete 30 credit hours of core “Training-in-Depth” (TID) annually toward completion of 150 hours in five (5) years.

Certificate and License Requirements:

  • Must have (or obtain) ServSafe Certification.
  • Position requires travel and use of an automobile is required.

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS:

  • 190 day contract year; 8 hours per day
  • Salary Range: $21.74 Per hour

Salary: $21.74 per hour
