From creating the home standby generator market category, to our current evolution into an energy technology solutions company, we continue to push new boundaries.The Senior Social Media Manager / Creator will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage key audiences for the Generac brand. Responsibilities include content planning, creation, and project management, as well as mentoring junior team members. You will manage social media campaigns, produce content (e.g., UGC-style videos), and stay updated on trends and legal compliance. The role also involves community engagement, social listening, and reporting analytics to improve performance and drive business goals. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to align business goals with creative content, focusing on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.Social Listening and Community BuildingDevelop and expand Generac’s social listening capabilities using enterprise tools, with a focus on understanding audience behavior, sentiment, and emerging trends across platforms.Use insights from social listening to inform content themes, editorial planning, and proactive engagement strategies.Monitor and manage potential social media crises, escalating issues appropriately and guiding response strategies in collaboration with internal teams.Lead community management efforts by engaging with audiences—both those speaking directly to us (via comments/DMs) and those speaking about us (in forums, Facebook groups, Reddit, etc.)Prioritize and escalate customer service inquiries to the Customer Experience (CX) team, ensuring timely and empathetic responses.Identify and surface user-generated content, testimonials, and pre-sales questions, responding with a brand-right, human tone that builds trust and advocacy.Editorial Strategy & ImplementationOwn the editorial calendar strategy: Help drive, maintain, and adapt it based on listening insights, business priorities, and platform trends. Collaborate with the Director of Social Media to align content themes with broader brand and campaign goals.Guide the execution of the calendar, ensuring timely delivery and cross-functional coordination.Suggest and plan highly engaging, platform-specific, social-first content for both agency and in-house creation, writing detailed creative briefs when neededMentor more junior team members on social copywritingProvide oversight of other teams’ content calendarsProject & Team LeadershipLead large-scale social media projects and campaigns from concept to execution.Mentor junior team members on editorial strategy, brand voice, and community management best practices.Partner with creative teams and agencies to bring ideas to life, ensuring content is both brand-aligned and socially relevant.Analytics & ReportingOwn social media reporting process, ensuring read-outs are on time and structure is soundAnalyze performance data, extract insights, and present strategic recommendations to stakeholders.Use metrics to inform content testing, community engagement strategies, and editorial planning.Operational ExcellenceIdentify and recommend solutions for process and procedures that could be improvedStay up to date with social media best practices, trends, and algorithm changes to optimize content and strategiesMinimum Job RequirementsEducationBachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent experienceWork Experience6-8 years’ experience working in social media on content and social community building.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesExpertise in social listening tools and methodologies.Proven ability to translate social insights into editorial and engagement strategies.Experience leading community management efforts and building brand advocacy.Strategic thinker with a data-driven mindset and strong storytelling skills.Proven ability to independently create and execute social media editorial plans well in advance while remaining flexible to adapt to changing circumstances.Passion for social-first content and the ability to educate stakeholders on its value and emerging trends.Strong knowledge of social media trends and the evolving digital landscape, with an understanding of high-performing content across relevant platforms.Collaborative mindset with strong relationship-building skills, effectively communicating the rationale behind ideas to gain buy-in and trust.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 – 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
