Kennedy High School, Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School DistrictSalary/Pay Scale: $43,953 – $54,207 commensurate with experience (with an additional $2,200 for a Master’s Degree as per the TAC contract)Position Summary/Purpose:In the Cheektowaga-Sloan UFSD, the faculty and staff are dedicated to creating a positive student-centered learning environment that recognizes all students’ unique needs and talents by combining character education with a curriculum based on critical thinking. The emphasis is on teaching the whole child to create lifelong learners who are best prepared for college, careers, and beyond.RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:

• Show evidence of thoughtful and reflective lesson planning
• Identify and implement specific student learning outcomes as pertaining to student learning needs and IEP objectives
• Make data-driven decisions and maintain individual, class, and program records
• Apply appropriate teaching strategies consistent with student needs, selected curriculum, and time allocations
• Make appropriate accommodations for each student’s physical, educational, or behavioral disabilities
• Consult and collaborate with support staff and administration regarding strategies that will enable all students to achieve success
• Coordinate other services for all students as needed, for example, speech therapy, adapted physical education, occupational therapy, and physical therapy
• Make appropriate use of instructional time, focused on explicit and systematic instruction
• Provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility and leadership
• Possess knowledge of educating the whole child by supporting academic, social, and emotional growth
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements & Qualifications:

• NYSED Certification in Special Education 7-12 required
• Content Certification of Math or Science preferred
• Experience as a special education teacher at the high school level is preferred but not required
