Description: Amazon is seeking an innovative and high-judgement Senior Applied Scientist to join the Privacy Engineering team in the Amazon Privacy Services org. We own products and programs that deliver technical innovation for ensuring compliance with high-impact, urgent regulation across Amazon services worldwide.The Senior Applied Scientist will contribute to the strategic direction for Amazon’s privacy practices while building/owning the compliance approach for individual regulations such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), DMA, Quebec 25 etc. This will require helping to frame, and participating in, high judgment debates and decision making across senior business, technology, legal, and public policy leaders.A great candidate will have a unique combination of experience with the theory and application modern privacy protection methods like differential privacy, synthetic data generation etc. You will be responsible for leading the implementation of privacy preserving mechanisms across applications and measuring improvements in privacy threat mitigation from these implementations. As a builder you will need to demonstrate high judgement in system architecture decisions and ability to set detailed technical design. You will drive foundational frameworks for privacy, set technical requirements, and have end to end accountability for delivering privacy services.Key job responsibilities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS – PhD, or Master’s degree and 8+ years of applied research experience
– 8+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
– Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
– Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
– Knowledge of standards like NIST Privacy Framework, ISO Information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection Guidelines etc.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.

The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market.
