Description: Description:JOB TITLE:Superintendent’s Academy Teacher (Summer Only – 6 positions per site)REPORTS TO:Instructional Superintendent and Coordinator of Gifted and Talented InstructionWORK DAYS:June 10, 2025 – July 2, 2025SALARY:Supplemental Salary Schedule $35.00 per hourLOCATION:Phillips Academy & Parker High SchoolFLSA Status:EXEMPTXNON-EXEMPTJOB DESCRIPTION:Under the direction of the Instructional Superintendent and Coordinator of Gifted and Talented Instruction, this position will be responsible for implementing modules in the Summer Superintendent’s Academy, which encompasses STEAM and Problem-Based Learning.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods.

• Attends professional development and/or orientation related to Summer Superintendent’s Academy.

• Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.

• Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.

• Works directly with the Curriculum and Instruction Department/Gifted Education and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Superintendent’s Academy curriculum.

• Organizes, develops, and coordinates special STEM events’ activities.

• Serves as liaison to the prospective team of teachers who will develop and implement selected Superintendent’s Academy modules to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students.

• Shares STEM/and Extracurricular events and activities through social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Alabama Teaching Certificate.

• Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and/or Science, Gifted Certification, or STEM and/or STEAM related field, or National Board Certification.

• Experience in developing and delivering professional development to teachers.

• Evidence of at least three (3) years of exemplary classroom teaching experience.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• A proven record of accomplishment in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.

• Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.

• Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.

• Proven ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.

• Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction.

• Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.

• Desire to continue learning “what works” in classroom instruction.
