Description: Job Description:Visual Arts TSA Summary of RoleUnder the general direction of the Visual and Performing Arts Director, OUSD is actively seeking candidates who are committed to developing and supporting Visual Arts programs in an ongoing effort to improve teaching and learning in classrooms within OUSD.The Visual Arts Teacher on Special Assignment (TSA) will work with the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) team to:

  • Design, implement and coordinate professional development for the Visual Arts Teachers Network, i.e. monthly sessions and teacher in-service days
  • Curate and build upon curriculum resources to support Visual Arts instruction
  • Support Visual and Performing Art events, i.e. art festivals, exhibitions, performances
  • Work with VAPA leadership team to establish goals, work plans, and identify Visual Arts learning priorities
  • Provide instructional coaching, mentorship and support for K-12 Visual Arts teachers
  • Model and support use of effective teaching strategies that lead to increased student achievement, and use of assessment to inform instruction
  • Collaborate with district departments and arts-based community partners to articulate Visual Art educational programs to ensure all students have access
  • Provide administrative support for VAPA team meetings and coordinate with Consultants for updates/report backs

Qualifications:Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree, must be eligible for employment in the US and pass a criminal background check. Candidates must possess a Preliminary or Clear California teaching credential authorizing instruction in core TK-12 curriculum.Additional requirements:
