Description: Director/Vice President of Human Resources – South Orange County – In-Office – 150-200k plus bonusWe are seeking a dynamic Director or Vice President, Human Resources to join one of our best clients.Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director/Vice President, Human Resources is a member of the Executive Leadership Team, providing leadership and guidance on all HR functions, aiming to ensure the company remains an employer of choice. This position will oversee talent management and development, employee engagement, people and succession planning, compensation and benefits. The Director/VP, Human Resources will be pivotal in enhancing the company’s organizational effectiveness by collaborating with and advising the senior leadership team in developing and executing HR strategy in support of the company’s overall business plan and strategic direction.
Specific Duties:As the Vice President, Human Resources, the right candidate will understand that people are the heart of our client’s business and will play a crucial role in transforming to best-in-class HR processes and structure that support its team.Responsibilities will include:Strategic HR Leadership

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team in developing and executing the HR strategy in support of the company’s overall business plan and strategic direction, ensuring people and culture are part of business decisions.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership and counsel to the senior leadership team on key organizational and management issues.

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead innovative efforts in talent recruitment and retention to create a robust pipeline of resources necessary to facilitate the Company achieving its strategies, goals, and objectives
  • Cultivate an employer brand that draws top-tier candidates, ensuring an outstanding experience for every applicant.

Employee and Career Development

  • Design, implement, continuously strengthen and provide guidance for talent development/training, succession planning, and ongoing performance management to nurture and retain top talent.
  • Manage the Company’s performance/goals review and annual merit increases
  • Ensure the Company’s employees have an effective goal setting structure that provides for quantifiable goals that reinforce the Company’s strategies, goals and objectives

Compensation and Benefits

  • Develop and administer total rewards packages that attract and retain employees, including compensation, benefit, and employee incentive programs.
  • Keep up-to-date relative to wage, salary, and incentive survey data to ensure the company’s total compensation programs are competitive and on-brand.

Management Partner

  • Develop strong collaborative relationships throughout the organization at all levels to deliver value-added HR services including coaching, guidance and strategic thought partnerships to grow and further the business.
  • When required, assist management with employee behavioral issues including the collaborative development of effective performance improvement plans and/or the effective counseling out of employees where the fit is not right

Culture and Engagement

  • Champion initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture, driving employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Oversee employee relations (dispute resolution, administering disciplinary actions, providing counseling services, and responding to employee concerns) and employee investigations as required.
  • Implement and drive systems to monitor employee engagement and company-wide morale, and provide strategic thought leadership on recommendations to adjust or implement new strategies to ensure the Company’s employee morale is strong and reinforces the execution of the Company’s strategies, goals and objectives
  • Plan and direct new employee orientation to ensure an engaging onboarding process that reinforces Company culture, provides introduction to key team members, and orients the new employee on how they are positioned to drive/support the execution of the Company’s strategies, goals, and objectives

HR Leadership and Mentorship

  • Lead, develop and nurture the Human Resources team
  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities

Compliance and Legal Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations, managing legal matters, compliance training, corporate insurance and risk management in collaboration with external counsel as needed.

HR Operations

  • Ensure all HR functions, including but not limited to recruiting, compensation, payroll, HRIS admin, benefits, LOAs, accommodations, Workers’ Compensation/safety, compliance, performance management, learning and development adhere to all applicable regulations and are delivered/executed with excellence
  • Guide global Human Resources team members to drive consistency of personnel-related policies and culture in the Company’s international offices
  • Prepare and oversee the Company’s Human Resources budget and forecast
  • Act as an advisor on employee group meetings, the Company’s Safety Committee and Employee Functions Committee

Desired Background and Experience:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree and SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15+ years in HR management, with at least 2+ years reporting to the Senior Leadership preferred.
  • Relationships and Influence: Proven ability to inspire, engage, build trust, and motivate employees at all levels and act as a business partner. High level of emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills. Absolute confidentiality required.
  • Communication: Superior conflict resolution skills. Strong executive presence and communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • HR Leadership: Proven track record of successful team management and HR strategy implementation. At least 5+ years of leading an HR team.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of domestic and international employment laws. Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to optimize HRIS system functionality for organization.
