Description: About the OpportunityThe Burnes Center for Social Change at Northeastern University advances real-world impact by teaching individuals and institutions the skills needed to design and implement innovative and equitable solutions to our hardest problems and is seeking a web developer who will be responsible for developing new pages and making updates to high impact websites like , , .You are a dedicated professional with demonstrated project management expertise and the ability to work in a fast-moving environment with an exciting team of .You have a strong, demonstrable background in React and/or Vue, and other front-end technologies (especially HTML5 and CSS3), and are enthusiastic about learning new front-end frameworks. You’re passionate about writing maintainable CSS. As we continue to explore our technology stack at GovLab, you’re the kind of person that will be eager to play with and learn cutting edge tools like VueJS or React.Experience in implementing web accessibility standards (WCAG) to ensure our websites and applications are inclusive and accessible to all users is highly valued.Experience working with WordPress CMS.Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong ability to be highly responsive and agile, with a proven track record of efficiently turning projects around within tight deadlines. The Power At Work blog, attracting over 70,000 visitors, is dedicated to fostering discussions on workers’ rights and collective action in the U.S. by analyzing labor trends, advocating for empowering policies, highlighting union efforts, and leading initiatives to reshape public discourse on confronting power imbalances.Creating new webpages for the InnovateUS Website ( ) including features like a project gallery and online course listings. InnovateUS provides no-cost, at-your-own-pace, and live learning on data, digital and innovation skills to public professionals at the state level. The website is the primary source of information about new courses and workshops to the over 8,000 participants in our program.Building new features for the Reboot Democracy blog like implementing a tagging system, filters and search. The Reboot Democracy Blog explores the complex relationship among AI, democracy and governance. It features articles, interviews and events with leading global experts.Creating new project pages in wordpress.Qualifications3-4 years of relevant experience working with HTML, CSS, React/VueJS, Typescript, JavaScript, and jQueryExperience working with DirectusCMSExcellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skillsExperience in web application developmentBe comfortable developing back-end and designing services on top of a cloud infrastructure (like Digital Ocean)Experience with CMS’s preferable headless CMS’s (Directus)Experience with repository and deploy platforms such as Github and NetlifyAbility to implement website features in Javascript/TypescriptInterest and ability to learn other programming languages as needed.To learn more about the Burnes Center, please follow this .About the Burnes CenterThe Burnes Center for Social Change at Northeastern University advances real-world impact by teaching individuals and institutions the skills needed to design and implement innovative and equitable solutions to our hardest problems.
